Who is Jake Dunlap?
Starting from humble, Midwestern beginnings, sales was not a career path definitively imagined by Jake. Telemarketing and waiting tables paid for college tuition while a brief but lucrative stint in sales management for the Arizona Coyotes and Tampa Bay Devil Rays indicated a natural aptitude Jake had for sales. However, he didn’t truly learn the techniques and process of selling until his first corporate experience at a leading company.
Despite previous success in sports and other ventures, this new role had its challenges, but would become the foundational starting blocks of a new career and an introduction into the science of selling.
Frustrated that previous methodologies were not yielding desired results, Jake worked to learn the company’s sales techniques, starting with the sales scripts used to train thousands of employees. The change proved to be successful, yielding over $60,000 in sales the very next month. From here, Jake continued to learn the art and science of a sale, propelling him into executive roles.
Before building Skaled, Jake held the roles of VP of Sales at Glassdoor (acquired for $1.2 billion by RecruitHoldings), Nowait (acquired by Yelp), and Head of Sales + Customer Relations at ChartBeat. In 2013, Jake launched Skaled Consulting using transformative, modern techniques that focus on customer behavior and motivations to drive sustainable growth. Transforming over 750 sales organizations, including several Fortune 500 companies, the Skaled’s formula clearly demonstrated a new era of selling that worked.
In 2018, Jake made the decision to invest in brand and LinkedIn. Consistently creating relevant, engaging, and veritable content spearheaded progress and led to many opportunities, including keynote speaker/panelist presentations at Salesloft’s Rainmaker Conference, Innovacorp Annual Sales/Marketing Conference, and Saleshacker. Jake has built up an impressive LinkedIn audience (55k+) via content creation and engagement and has increased the visibility for Skaled using this technique.
